Only Win 95, Win98 and Windows ME were a different version and size. The last time I checked Ricoh drivers for any MFP prior to when they stopped offering drivers for XP, all drivers for 32 bit for the same printer language were the same from Win XP to what ever was the latest OS. If they tried to load 64 bit drivers on a 32 bit PC, it will fail. Their newer PC's are probably all 64 bit. So I can't get hold of any XP drivers, the oldest they will go is Windows 7 but the customer tried Win 7 drivers and it will not install.Do you happen to know which Windows 7 drivers they tried? If the PC's are old enough that they cannot update to a newer OS, they are most likely they are 32 bit machines. Ricoh stopped putting out drivers for XP about 5 years ago because Microsoft wasn't supporting it any more. All was going ok until they tried to install it on some PC's that are running Windows XP. ![]() We gave them 1 for trial use so they can see if it works on their outdated systems and software. Hi, we have a potential big deal (for us) coming up to sell about 20 Ricoh P502 machines. Obviously any normal installation I use the correct driver from the Ricoh site, but this is the first time in 9.5 years I have had to go well outside the box to find a solution to a 20 year old PC environment. The world won't end if you don't have the exact driver for each machine. Tested from an old XP laptop, I can print using an HP driver that was already in the list of signed drivers to an IMC 3000 and it is fine from every application so far. On a signed form for us to come back at a later date and make changes to network or printing is chargeable but can't say it has ever happened because the drivers are almost identical.īesides I spoke to Ricoh Level 2 support and he even said I coud use an HP printer driver if the Ricoh doesn't work as they are the same language, the only difference being selecting different trays but these printers only have 1 tray anyway. They don't want to update all the drivers and have to setup everything again so we leave new machines on the original drivers, print from every type of software they have and if they are happy we leave it like that. Sometimes we don't get the choice, customer has many drivers for many printers set up in exact ways like custom size paper, booklets and so on. ![]() Try calling tech support next time and tell them old firmware wrong driver and report back what they said and You Don't understand what could be the problem. Maybe the customer will have a problem is NOT a Solution its a problem waiting to happen. I already stated why they have some XP machines there. You should ALWAYS install the correct print driver. I can already print to it using a Win 7 HP PCL driver on my Win 10 PC but need to do it on this crusty ol' laptop. I have just dug up an old XP based laptop which is now loading at a snails pace, when it finally does in the next century I can try ricohs universal or the HP universal pcl drivers to print to an IMC 3000 I have here. That is where my problem is, getting a driver that it sees and says yep thats ok printer installed. However I've never had to go back as far as an XP machine, as soon as it sees you are trying to install a Win 7 driver it prompts an error saying it can't be done. Usually any differences are so minimal people wouldn't really notice. By automating the process of adding and configuring network printing devices, it helps to streamline printing workflows and improve productivity.A bit like if you had MPC 3002, used the pcl 6 driver for that machine and they upgrade to MPC 3003, you can leave it on the same driver, then upgrade to MPC 3004 and IMC 3000 it will be ok.
